What Are Egregores?

Lately, it’s become increasingly clear that life is more than what we perceive with our physical senses. There’s something beyond the ordinary at play, and this realization is part of our awakening. It helps us discern what’s real versus what’s an illusion, ultimately expanding our consciousness. With that in mind, let me explain what “Egregores” are from my perspective.

The term "Egregore" comes from the Greek word egrégoro, meaning "to watch over" or "be vigilant." This concept is acknowledged in theosophy and various religious traditions, particularly in the East.

Egregores are collective energies formed by the shared thoughts and emotions of a group of people, all resonating at a similar vibrational frequency. Essentially, they are energy fields created on the astral plane, built from the individual energies of these people.

Think of an Egregore as a cloud of energy that forms when multiple people share similar thoughts or feelings. These collective thoughts create a vibrational pattern, and over time, the Egregore grows stronger. Throughout our lives, we connect to many Egregores, often without even realizing it.

It’s important to note that Egregores can be positive or negative. This is why being mindful of our thoughts and emotions is so important. By paying attention to where we focus our energy, we can better understand the types of Egregores we’re connecting with.

Egregores and Vibrational Frequencies

Talking a bit about physics, frequencies are measured in Hertz. What does one Hertz mean? One Hertz means one rotation per second, or one oscillation per second of a wave. Stephen Hawking (a famous physicist who lived until 2018) developed the String Theory. In this theory, he and a group of physicists discovered that a quark (which is a very, very small particle) has the shape of a string, and these "little strings" vibrate at different frequencies.

What do we learn from this? That energy, which is invisible to our eyes, is made up of tiny strings that have vibrations, frequencies that can be measured in Hertz, which is the oscillation per second of the little string.

So, when we talk about vibration or vibrational frequencies, we’re talking about something real. It’s not imaginary. It’s invisible, but it’s real.

Examples of Egregores

A positive Egregore might form around a prayer or mantra. For instance, when a prayer is recited across different cultures and languages, it carries a shared intention and vibrational energy. Each time someone recites that prayer, they add to the Egregore, making it stronger. When others pray the same way, they tap into this collective positive energy, which explains why mantras and prayers often leave us feeling uplifted.

On the other hand, negative Egregores can connect us to emotions like fear, anger, or hatred. A common example is the energy surrounding tragic news reports. Have you ever noticed how you feel after watching the news? Some people become so accustomed to consuming negative content that they unknowingly get "hooked" on this type of Egregore.

If you find yourself in this pattern, try to avoid focusing on bad news or tragedies. Connecting with negative Egregores can lower your vibrational frequency, leading to emotions like fear, anxiety, or sadness.

Egregores of Places

Egregores aren’t just tied to emotions or thoughts—they’re also connected to locations. Have you ever arrived in a city and felt a certain vibe you couldn’t explain? You might have been sensing that place’s Egregore.

For example, some people feel a sense of freedom when they visit New York or São Paulo. I’ve experienced this myself and heard others describe it. This could be tied to an Egregore of freedom that exists in these cities. Due to miscegenation, there are many people from various countries and cultures mixing there. In a way, this creates a sense of freedom, a possibility that all types of people are accepted.

Similarly, many people report feeling deeply spiritual when visiting Machu Picchu in Peru.

This may be due to the area’s unique energy, as the mountains are considered an energetic portal of South America, surrounded by the powerful, untamed Amazon rainforest.

Each place carries its own Egregores, shaped by the collective energy of its people, culture, history or biome.

The Influence of Egregores on Our Lives

Free will is one of the greatest gifts we have. It allows us to make choices and grow. With this understanding of Egregores, you now have the power to choose where to direct your energy. The thoughts we focus on influence us profoundly, either raising or lowering our vibration, which affects our physical and emotional well-being.

I’d say that every minute, we have the chance to choose the direction we take in life. Whether it’s the TV channel, the movie, or the music we listen to, the food we decide to eat, or the people we follow on social media — everything around us has its own energy and influences our own. If we choose to focus on the best things right now, over time it becomes a positive habit, and a series of good habits will raise our energy in a meaningful way. When we’re vibrating at a higher frequency, life feels lighter, synchronicities show up, and everything flows — it brings us a deep sense of fulfillment.I’d also say that staying in a high vibration isn’t always easy, even once you’ve reached it. "Stay on your toes" is something we have to keep doing.?

Whose Responsibility is it to Connect with the Best Egregores?

Once you know that these clouds of energy exist, you have the responsibility to choose where you connect. It’s up to each one of us to decide which Egregores we connect with every day. Because now, you get to choose. You can choose to connect with the good

Egregores, the ones that make you feel good.

If you want to raise your vibration, there are many ways to do it. How about watching a comedy? Or walking somewhere that makes you feel good? Or saying a prayer that brings peace to your heart? Calling someone you’re close to and sharing a laugh.

Anyway, in everyday life, you can make many choices that connect you with either good or bad Egregores, light or heavy energy. The choice is yours.

Each of us has the power to steer our life toward the positive or the negative. These are choices we make every day. Light and Peace. With love, Michele.
